Christian Education

A faith-based education reinforces the discipline of thinking intellectually and behaving morally. At Sophia Academy, all students take part in a Christian Education curriculum that serves to develop them spiritually.

Sophia Academy holds a Judeo-Christian worldview that is carried out by fostering an environment that is pervasively spiritual in nature, promoting Christian values and virtues and by teaching Christian Education, namely Biblical literacy and history, from an academic perspective in the classroom.

Why Christian Education?

  • Research shows that students with higher levels of religious commitment perform better on tests of achievement and have higher levels of moral reasoning that lead them to make good choices.
  • By reinforcing the importance of good choices that stem from one's faith, Christian Education increases the likelihood of students continuing their faith journey in their adult lives.
  • The moral decision-making emphasized in Christian Education promotes self-discipline, which builds character.  Self-discipline increases the ability to learn in a classroom, self-advocate when necessary, and exemplify integrity in all areas.
  • Education based on God’s Word develops students who are wiser, more knowledgeable and capable of complex and abstract thinking, as well as more versed in world cultures.
