Fine Arts

Sophia Academy believes in educating the whole person. The fine arts - music, drama, and studio art - are essential components in that education, as they help students examine their world through the lens of artistic interpretation. Each student at Sophia Academy receives weekly instruction in art and music and participates in two on-stage performances each year. Students are encouraged to develop their artistic expression through each of our fine arts programs.

Music

All students sing in our Holy Family Concert each Christmas and participate in music class, where they learn musical elements, note reading, music history, and performance on classroom instruments. Students in grades 3-8 are given the opportunity to audition for Select Chorus, our choral group which performs at school and community events.

Drama

Middle school students are given the opportunity to audition for the Fall One Act. Our award-winning drama team has competed at the regional and state level and continues to impress audiences with their theatrical finesse. All middle school students receive additional instruction through a performing arts rotation, where they alternate music and drama classes in preparation for the annual Spring play, Love Letter. Studio Art

Each student at Sophia Academy engages in a visual arts class each week. In addition to the regular art curriculum, students learn and create through art infusion, a cross-curricular class which incorporates material from other grade-level subject areas.
